The artistic talent of refugees centre stage in Venice during the 58th Art Biennale
The project Rothko in Lampedusa, organised by UNHCR, opens in Venice on 11 May, highlighting the importance of art as a tool for refugees to express their talent and bring huge benefits to their host communities. From the exhibition at Palazzo Querini to workshops, seminars and performances: there is a full calendar of events until 24 November 2019.
Bianca Balti in Venice for Dress for Our Time
On 9th May in Venice, Bianca Balti will model a dress made by a UNHCR tent to raise awareness on the plight of refugees. The performance will take place at Salute, piazza San Marco and San Servolo and will be reported by a video installation that the public will be able to watch on the occasion of the exhibition “Rothko in Lampedusa”, starting from 11th May at Palazzo Querini.
